Havana Accommodation
In Havana, you will stay with a Cuban host family in a nice residential part of town known as Reparto Vedado. Though it is mainly a quiet area, there are several nice bars and discotheques. Vedado is approximately 40-45 minutes walking distance or approximately 15 minutes by bicycle-taxi from Old Havana.
The families offer a single room with breakfast and dinner. Dinner is between 18.30 - 20.00 hours, and all rooms have air-conditioning or a fan and some have a private bathroom. Laundry is not included; however, the host family can take care of your laundry for a small charge.
Vedado, located along the Caribbean waterfront, was developed extensively during the decades between 1930 and 1960, when Havana developed as a major destination for U.S. tourists. Highrise hotels, casinos, restaurants, and upscale commercial establishments, many reflecting the then-popular art deco style, are found in the Vedado district. In the late 1990s Vedado represented the principal commercial area of the city, and its surroundings were home to a variety of important landmarks including the Hotel Nacional, José Martí Stadium, the University of Havana, the National Theater of Cuba, and the Colón Cemetery.
The temperature in Havana from November to April is approximately 25ºC (77ºF), whereas, in the summertime the air is very humid with temperatures from 32-35ºC (89º-95ºF) accompanied by occasional rain.

Santiago de Cuba
In Santiago de Cuba, you will stay with selected host families that live in spacious homes in a nice part of the town known as Reparto Sueño. They offer single rooms with breakfast and dinner, and dinner is served between 18.30 - 20.00. Almost all rooms have air-conditioning and some have a private bathroom. Laundry is not included, however, the host family can take care of your laundry for a small fee.
Reparto Sueño is a residential area and a quiet place, where the beautiful old constructions are now home to families, and to some of the main hotels in the city.
Upon arrival in Santiago de Cuba, take a taxi to the established meeting point where you are to meet up with your counselor. Here you will be welcomed and receive a voucher with the address of the host family. Then you can go to your host family with the same taxi that brought you. The families all live in the same part of town (Reparto Sueño) and are all within walking distance but because of the luggage we advise to go by taxi. Once you arrive at the home of the host family you should hand in the voucher. It may be handy to make a note of the family address.
The climate in Santiago de Cuba is tropical, moderated by trade winds, with two main seasons: dry season (November- April) and rainy season (May-October). Santiago has a very similar climate to that of Havana.

Again, pick-up service to and from the airport is not available. Upon arrival in Havana, there are two airports. Please contact the information desk to ask from which airport your flight to Santiago will be leaving. If you so choose, there is an option of traveling by bus to Santiago de Cuba for 59 Euros.
