Actividades en Chile

Our active staff organizes weekly activities: trips to vineyards, wine tasting, touring Pablo Neruda’s house, the Cousiño Palace, and a national memorial to those who lost their lives under the dictatorship of Pinochet.

1/2 Day Trips:

• San Cristobal Hill: Cerro San Cristobal is a 860 meter high hill that juts out of the city. It features a zoo, a wine museum, and gondolas to ride to the top for breath-taking views of the city.

• La Casa Colorada: This house is one the few remaining colonial buildings left in Santiago. It houses a history museum dealing with the the city and country. This museum boasts a number of dioramas representing key moments in Chilean history.

1 Day Trips:

• Valle Nevado: Chile’s largest ski resort with over 23,000 acres of terrain.

• Valparaiso and Viña del Mar: Valparaiso, a city full of cliffs and funiculars, is the oldest port in Chile. Viña del Mar is a coastal city just south of Valparaiso with great beaches.

Weekend Trips:

• Colchagua Vally: Colchagua, which in the native indigenous language means Valley of the Small Lagoons, is where the Chiquillanes tribe settled. In the middle of the 16th century the Jesuit missionaries planted the first grape vineyards here marking the beginning of the wine industry in Chile.

• Chile Island: Inhabited by native tribes, this island possesses a rich Jesuit tradition of close to 150 churches. Great for kayaking, sailing and wildlife watching.
